Queensland Coal Rail System
The biggest coal export state of Australia is Queensland. Queensland exports 50% of the global coking coal and 10% of the global thermal coal. Queensland increased their production significantly to provide for the global demand. The coal in Queensland is being mobilized greatly with the healp of the Queensland coal rail system. This coal rail system can provide coal transport and common infrastructure to a lot of mines that are independently operated, domestic and a lot of coal terminals. This is how important the Queensland coal rail system is. It keeps the biggest coal mining export industry in Australia moving. The economy of Australia is greatly affected by the exports in this industry. This means if anything happens to this coal rail system, then the economy of Australia can be greatly affected as well. Not only big companies and corporations can benefit from the Queensland coal rail system, but small individual coal companies can benefit as well.
Operations
The operations of the Queensland coal rail system is unscheduled. The movement schedules are determined by the different mine demands and other yard and port constraints. With all the different demands and conditions of each port and yard, the operations and schedules of the coal rail system in this area is not systematically schedule. This is one way of providing transport for all the different mining operations in the area. This unscheduled nature of operations of the coal rail system creates a challenge to the industry on improving the rail simulation software that they already have. This software is usually in a timetable and is not determined by any conflict resolutions in different local areas. This rail simulationsoftware is a type of research to properly handle and organize the unscheduled nature of the coal rail system. This way the complexities of the Queensland coal rail system can be properly adressed which will lead to the upgrades of infrastructures and other operational changes. This will help in the development of the entire Queensland coal rail system.
Rail Systems
The Queensland coal rail system has four major coal rail system that operates all over the area to provide services fro the coal mines. These coal rail systems are Abbot Point Terminal, the Goonyella system, the Moura rail System, and the Blackwater rail system. These coal rail systems have their own destinations and provides for their specific scopes of mining corporations and companies.
Flood
In early 2011, the railway system was greatly affected by flodding. Later on, the three of the systems were fully operational. These rail system are Abbot point terminal, Goonyella system and the Moura rail system. However, at present, all the rail way systems are fully operational and the coal export industry is back on its feet and back in business.
